FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

BETHANY LESH 

Covenant Day School senior Bethany Lesh was recently named to the all-conference basketball team.  The daughter of Todd and Janie Lesh served as a captain of the team this year and helped the team to a successful season.  Bethany plays guard and helps with ballhandling,. scoring and defense.

The last two seasons, Bethany was awarded the Christian Character Award for  the Varsity Girls Basketball team . This award is voted on by the members of the team and is presented at the end of the season to the player who best exemplifies a Christian attitude both on and off the court.

Bethany is a straight A student, a member of the National Honor Society and serves as Student Body Chaplain.

Congratulations to Bethany Lesh for being named The Architech Sports Student Athlete of the Week.


YOUNG ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

BRENDAN BURKE

Eleven year oldBrendan Burke is one of the top baseball players at Park Sharon Athletic Association.  The fifth grade son of Jennifer and Shawn Burke has been playing baseball for five years.  He enjoys playing pitcher, shortstop and centerfield.  This spring Brendan will play for the Charlotte Lynx  baseball team, a travel team within the Park Sharon organization.  

Brendan carries a high batting average and enjoys hitting from the left hand side of the plate.  He also plays basketball for Park Sharon.

Brendan's favorite class at Ballantyne Elementary is Science. Congratulations to Brendan Burke for being named The Dynamic Sports Performance Young Athlete of the Week.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

CODY ESSER

Sixteen year old Cody Esser has been on the mark with his playfor the Cuthbertson High School Basketball Team this season.  The son of Ron and Tracey Esser has helped his team through the peaks and valleys expected for any first year high school team.  His outside shooting and defense have been very key to the growth of the team.

Last week Cody scored scored 25 points, with seven 3-pointers to help his team to a 60-38 win over Piedmont.  In an earlier game in January, Cody hit eight 3 point shots.   As the season comes to an end, Cody is looking forward to the conference tournament and a full offseason of training.  He hopes to one day play college basketball. 

 Cody has  a 4.25 GPA and  is  a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the Spanish Club.
