AK Softball takes 17-1 Victory over Myers Park

The Lady Knights Softball Team returned to action Tuesday, following the Spring Break holiday. The Knights traveled to Myers Park to take on the Mustangs, defeating the Mustangs in just 4 innings by a score of 17 to 1 and improving the AK record to 7-5 overall, 5-3 in conference play.

Leading the way for the Knights was sophomore hurler Kalie Lang. Lang was 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 doubles. On the mound, Lang faced 16 batters, striking out 9, giving up 2 just 2 hits and walking 1. Lang improved her record to 7-5 overall.

Other leading hitters included freshman outfielder Sarah Campbell who went 2 for 4 on the day. And sophomore second baseman Kylie Russo who was 1 for 4 with triple and 3 RBI. The overall performance by the Knights was stellar, sacrificing 1 earned run on the day and committing 1 error in the field, while leaving with no strike outs at the plate and 10 hits on the day.

The Lady Knights will return to action on Friday, April 13th, to face defending state champion Butler. The JV game is set to start at 4:00 PM, with the varsity playing at 5:30 PM.
