JORDAN KOLETIC TO CONTINUE SWIMMING CAREER IN COLLEGE
One of the top area swimmers, Jordan Koletic, will continue her swimming career at Miami (OH) University. The daughter of David and Natalie Koletic captured the 100M Freestyle gold medal at the North Carolina State Championships in February. The soon to be Charlotte Catholic High School graduated thought long and hard about her college choice before selecting Miami over Clemson, Vanderbilt and Robbins.
“I was serious about several schools and found Miami to be a very special place and a good fit for me,” said Jordan. “I loved the campus, the people, the coaches and the other team members were extremely friendly and welcoming. I pretty much just fell in love with Miami on a recruiting trip earlier in the year. Oxford is a beautiful college town with quaint shops and red brick streets. With about 15,000 students, Miami is large enough to offer just about everything I could possibly want academically and division I swimming, while at the same time it is not too big. It has an excellent reputation.”
Amazingly Jordan has only been a serious competitive swimmer for three years. She has trained with her club team at MAC and was a key member of the Catholic swim team. Her favorite events are the 50, 100 and 200 meter freestyle races. Jordan also swims in many relay events.
To build her strength, Jordan spends a lot of time in the pool.
“I train about 2-3 hours every afternoon, Friday mornings before school and Saturday mornings. The team does a lot of pool and dry land work, which involves weight lifting, stretching and running. Swimming is a year round sport, which requires a hefty commitment to training.”
Jordan also enjoys other sports such as water and snow skiing, scuba diving, and soccer on the weekends with friends. Before she started competitive swimming Jordan was heavily into club soccer and spent numerous years competing in Tae Kwon Do. A broken ankle set her back in soccer, so she turned to swimming. In Tae Kwon Do Jordan was fortunate to earn the 2nd degree black and to compete in the Junior Olympics.
Jordan is also successful in the classroom and enjoys English and Science.
The South Charlotte Sports Report congratulates Jordan Koletic on her swimming success and we wish her a wonderful college experience at Miami (OH) University.
