A NEW SEASON WITH A NEW REPUTATION

The lacrosse girls of Ardrey Kell came into a new year with new skills, high hopes, and great determination. Now if only they had a coach. That wish was granted thanks to the willpower of Debbie Bowman and Suzanne Keever who both have daughters on the women’s lacrosse team and hearts dedicated to the team as well. (complete story)

LAUREN LEFEBER HAS NEVER BEEN AFRAID OF HARD WORK

“Work hard and it pays off.” Those were the first six words Lauren Lefeber shared with us as we sat down at Velocity Sports Performance for an interview. The Charlotte Catholic Junior is one of the top lacrosse players in the South Charlotte area and that didn’t come by accident. It came with hard work and dedication to her sport. Lauren is the daughter of John and Charlanye Lefeber and has been playing lacrosse since her freshman year.(complete story)

BRIDGET WALSH FEELS AT HOME IN THE POOL AND ON LACROSSE FIELD

Being a successful two sport athlete can prove to be a difficult job, but some people are able to accomplish this task with relative ease. Bridget Walsh is one of these athletes. Bridget is sixteen years old and a rising junior at Charlotte Catholic High School. She is the daughter of Jim and Patty Walsh. This young athlete plays lacrosse for Catholic and is also a part of their highly successful swim team.(complete story)

The “K-Factor”

The Wildcats are down 3-0 against Country Day, time keeps running out in regulation; One goal, no wait! Two goals scored by Connor Kennedy to trim off the lead held by Country Day. Trailing by one, Connor passes it to his fellow teammate, one more goal for the Wildcats to tie it up! The game goes to overtime. The players’ hearts are pumping faster than ever; the crowds are up on their feet roaring for their team to win. Who will take it home? As time is running out in overtime, Connor Kennedy whips it around to another teammate.... Goal! The game’s over, the Wildcats win the game! (complete story)

HEART OF A CHAMPION

Drive, determination and perseverance are three adjectives often used to describe 13 year old Jack Knier. The seventh grader at Holy Trinity Catholic Middle School is the son of John and Kathi Knier and his story of playing through adversity is a remarkable one. Jack excels at lacrosse despite a congenital condition since birth. He suffers from Fibular Hemimelia, this means that the fibula, one of the two bones between the knee and ankle, has a problem. The fibula is important because it is the bone upon which the muscles of the leg originate. (complete story)

CHARLOTTE CATHOLIC LADIES LACROSSE CLOSES STRONG SEASON, ENTERS PLAYOFFS ON HIGH NOTE

On April 24, minutes after inarguably the biggest win in Charlotte Catholic’s 2-year old girls lacrosse program, the players raced to meet their goalie at midfield for a quick celebration amid applause from their parents and fans. After all, the Cougars had just defeated a highly regarded and very experienced Myers Park team, 14-9, at Gus Purcell Stadium on the Mustang’s Senior Day. The win not only improved Catholic’s overall record to 16-2 and propelled them to a #4 ranking in North Carolina (according to LaxPower.com) but, it represented its first win over one of the established girls lacrosse programs in Charlotte. PANTHERS LACROSSE MAKES NOISE THIS SPRING

The Providence Panthers entered the 2007 season with high expectations. After enjoying a successful run in the 2006 playoffs, the Panthers are preparing for another attempt at the state championship title.(complete story)

The Providence Panthers entered the NCHSLA State play-offs with a strong regular season record. A 17-3 mark guaranteed a berth in the playoffs. The right combination of experience and youth continue to be crucial to the Panthers success. (complete story)

HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL LACROSSE SEASON

The Holy Trinity Catholic Middle School team completed a successful season of lacrosse recently. Led by head coach Ken Dorcy, the Bulldogs finished 10-6, after starting the season with a 1-4 record. Dorcy and assistant coach Eddie Levins managed to find significant playing time for all 38 players in each game, a tough task for any lacrosse coach. (complete story)
